Name of Public Authority: Genesee Valley Regional Market Authority
Public Authority’s Mission Statement: Operate and maintain first class regional market facilities serving the nine county market region and the State in order to promote the efficient, profitable and successful operation of businesses engaged in the sale and distribution of agricultural products, food processing, food distribution and allied activities and incidental thereto to support small businesses, all by leasing and managing the Authority’s land and improvements efficiently and at cost effective rates for agricultural and other compatible business, commercial or industrial uses.

- Support agriculture, food processing and food distribution activities in the nine county Market region and the State by developing, supporting and/or implementing programs and initiatives and partnering with the State and other private and public entities.
- Lease land and improvements at cost effective rates for agricultural, food processing/distribution and other allied or compatible business, commercial or industrial uses to achieve and maintain 100% occupancy.
- Provide and maintain first class facilities and landlord services to tenants efficiently and cost effectively.
- Operate fiscally responsibly.
- Be a viable leasing alternative for small businesses to enhance job creation and expansion

The 15 member Board of Directors.
- If the Board appoints management, do you have a policy you follow when appointing the management of the public authority?
The current Administrator was appointed by the Board several years ago. When the need to appoint another Administrator arises, consistent with the effective and ethical management of the Authority; the Board will engage in a search for qualified candidates, the scope of which shall be determined in order to solicit applications from candidates with the expertise and experience necessary to fulfill the management and administrative duties of the Administrator at that time.
- Briefly describe the role of the Board and the role of management in the implementation of the mission.
The Administrator is responsible for managing and overseeing implementation of the mission and for directing the resources of the Authority in order to implement the mission. The Board’s role is direct oversight of the Administrator in his performance of these duties. The Administrator reports to the Board at each Board meeting regarding progress in implementing the mission, measuring performance and the existence or development of constraints, impediments or opportunities that affect the mission and its implementation.
